2023 Nissan Navara NP300 Interior and Exterior Changes

We are getting another truck for this season, it is the 2023 Nissan Navara NP300. Nissan is a proven name when it comes to making trucks. Navara has been a flagship pickup from Nissan and has been around for quite a while. It has received a lot of updates over the years. They were all improvements in our humble opinion. Also, the Navara was reliable and sturdy. You could use it for work, for everyday agenda, or for off-roading. Whatever you throw its way, Navara was able to come out on top. Recently, Nissan also announced that they are stopping production in Barcelona. This eventually would phase out Navara in Europe.

But the 2023 Navara is still happening. In the spy images, it looks more powerful and sturdier than ever. We could expect some styling changes in the cabin. Making it contemporary is important as these aren’t simple workhorses anymore. On the outside, we don’t see a lot of change happening. Navara has a unique style already and it is what distinguishes it from other trucks. Under the hood is where things could get interesting. Some sort of electrification is bound to happen. It is just a question of when it will happen. Let’s read in more detail about the upcoming Navara.

On the inside, Navara will receive some serious updates. These are much needed in order to keep the truck contemporary. So improving seating is needed. They were a bit slim if you ask us. So more cushioning and better lumbar support is needed. If you go off the paved road this can improve the quality of comfort. Also, they are heated and ventilated which is nice. The instrument panel has leather on it and some chrome which is a nice luxury addition. A single infotainment system is present, 13 inches in size. This is big enough as this is a five-seater.

Some safety features introduced here are amazing. We get automatic brakes, lane change alerts, front collision alerts, and cameras all around to make parking easier. There is leather on the steering wheel, which is a nice touch. Also, a lot of buttons are on the steering wheel. The dashboard is digital which is a nice step toward the future. We would like to see a sunroof present, but it is something we can live without. The designers did an amazing job with the interior. Everything is placed properly and there is more than enough space to sit comfortably.

Redesign

On the outside, the 2023 Nissan Navara NP300 looks amazing. It is more aggressive and angrier than its predecessors. It has commendable ride height which is noticeable right off the bat. Wheels are 17-inch lightweight alloys to shave off some weight. We assume there are bigger rims in some of the offered trims. The front fascia is not that big, it is wide but not tall. This makes us wonder if there are enough air intakes to cool down the engine department. We will have to trust Nissan on this one since previous Navaras were reliable. Headlights are unchanged and are still square looking while extending to the side. We would have liked to receive off-roading tires as standard but you can’t get everything. Bumpers are seamless and fit into the design almost stealthily.

Specs

Under the hood, Navara is keeping good old reliable engines. The 2023 Nissan Navara NP300 will offer several engines. First up we have a 2.3-liter dCi turbo diesel. This has an output of 160 horsepower or the more powerful version has 190 horsepower. Torque is even better, 330 pound-feet of torque and 380. It is a worldwide model so there will be a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower. This one is probably more suitable for the North American market. It will be paired with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmission. This is of course dictated by your location. But what might be even more interesting is the possibility of going electric.

All-Electric 2023 Nissan Navara NP300

Nissan is no stranger to putting a battery pack in their vehicles. They were the pioneers of it a decade ago. So why hasn’t there been a fully electric Navara yet? Well first of all a hybrid variant would be an amazing addition to this truck. It improves horsepower and fuel economy. These are both things you would gladly see in your pickup for sure. The electric motor from the hybrid systems can run for over 40 miles on its own. They have regenerative features and braking charges it back.

Amazing how far technology has advanced. A battery of 150 kWh should prove enough for the big Navara. This gives it a range of more than 300 miles which is more than enough. Also putting fast charging and peer-to-peer charging is mandatory. Ultium technology could be used for this of course. There are few examples of fully electric trucks and we know it is possible. It is simply a question of whether Nissan wants to use their resources in this regard. But considering how expensive fuel is becoming these days, electric vehicles make perfect sense. Also, they save the environment. So it is a win-win situation in our opinion.

The diesel version gets 37 mpg in the city, on the open road it gets  39 mpg and 34 mpg combined. We expect similar numbers from the gas-guzzling counterpart as well. The only US truck that can compete with these numbers is an upcoming Honda Ridgeline Hybrid.

2023 Nissan Navara NP300 Release Date

We should see the new 2023 Nissan Navara NP300 on the road in early 2023 or late 2022 at best. Supply chain issues are a real thing and can badly interfere with the production and shipping of trucks. Starting price is estimated at $29000. This is an estimate and not an official announcement. Also, trims will highly dictate how much you will have to spring for the pickup you want.
