2017 Fiat Toro: Design, Performance, Platform, Trims

The popularity of pickup trucks has been detected globally and while full-size versions are the most popular in the US outside this country demand for compact models is higher. This compact class has been expanded with new truck version that comes from Fiat.  It is 2017 Fiat Toro, compact pickup truck which has excursively been built for the Brazilian market.

What is it?

The Toro or “bull’’ in Italian is compact unibody construction based pickup truck that comes in wide range of available configurations and with two engine options including one petrol and one turbodiesel. It also delivers decent hauling capability and looks attractive while inside it promise car-like comfort and modern tech features.

Attractive and compact in size the 2017 Fiat Toro is based on Fiat’s Small wide 4×4 architecture that also underpins Jeep Renegade. Under the Toro is stretched version of this modular platform and it measures at 193.5 inches in length compared to Renegade’s 167 inches. Its compact footprint is about 20 inches shorter than mid-size Colorado and Toro will obviously be more maneuverable and easier to park that mid-size versions.

Styling:

In terms of styling the Toro takes some cues from the FCC4 concept. It features tall front side which is defined with hexagonal grille, slim headlights, nicely shaped bumper and protruding underbody protection. It also includes two creases on the hood and profile side has squared fenders and sharply chiseled character line. LED daytime running lights, more chrome inserts, stylish alloy wheels, fog lights and more will also be seen on higher-trim level version.

Interior, Trims:

Inside the room for five features car-like treatment. The seats are comfortable and dash is nicely designed with circular HVAC controls in center stack together with touchscreen which is flanked by air vents.

The model comes in crew-cab style and three available trims including Urban, Adrenaline and top Country. The trims will cover base work-oriented versions and higher grades will bring luxurious treatment. The model will offer Uconncet touchscreen interface on all versions while navigation and premium sound system will be available for extra money. There will also be features like premium upholstery, automatic climate control, contrasting trim inserts, heated seats and more.

2017 Fiat Toro: Powertrains

Depending on trim option the 2017 Fiat Toro will be available with two engine options and drive train configurations and there will also be three transmissions. A 1.8 liter E-Torq Flex engine with four cylinders can produce 138 hp and on the base trim it is mated to six-speed automatic transmission and power is routed to front wheels.

The next level trim uses a 2.0 liter turbodisesel four-cylinder engine which also sends power to front wheels but it can be paired with either six-speed manual or automatic shifter. The power it delivers is 170 hp.

On the top Country trim a four-wheel drive is standard but both engines are available and above six-speed manual and automatic a nine-speed automatic is also in the list. This truck when properly equipped can tow up to 2, 200 pounds.

2017 Fiat Toro: Availability

The 2017 Fiat Toro is currently only available in Brazil and it might get in Europe soon as well. However this model isn’t expected to reach US markets any time soon.
