Chevy Colorado is somewhat more traditionally styled of GM’s two mid-size trucks. However, that doesn’t mean it makes compromises and it comes with plenty of high-tech and convenience features. What is more important, this truck also can tow significant loads while also providing well-balanced handling and steering. With all mentioned, this truck can also be equipped with the hardware that provides impressive off-road potential. The latest ZR2 version of this truck goes on the Tacoma TRD Pro armed with the extreme off-road equipment. However, the 2018 Chevy Colorado Diesel and other versions should also see some upgrades as well.
2018 Chevy Colorado Diesel: Design
The new 2018 Chevy Colorado Diesel won’t change radically its styling approach but we should see some changes. Slightly restyled front fascia should include refreshed grille and headlights. The profile won’t change and the model continues with familiar boxy fenders. On its boot, tweaked taillights should be the new detail. Other possible changes are new color options and wheel designs.
Inside the cabin, the Colorado will continue with design approach which can also be seen in the full-size Silverado. The quality of finishes will be better than in its rivals. The model will also have a well-designed center stack with large center screen and easy to use controls. Nice textures will also be available alongside with supportive seats and plenty of space in the front row. The crew cab models will provide enough space for the adults in the rear row.
The currently available trim options the base, WT, LT and Z71 will be joined with the off-road oriented ZR2 package. This version includes the front and rear electronic locking differentials, unique suspension with the Multimatic shocks, special bumpers, 17-inch alloys with 31-inch all-terrain tires, skid-plate, unique hood and grille and much more. However, this trim will be available this spring but for the 2018 model year, this truck should get a new range-topping trim. It should bring upgraded upholstery, unique exterior and interior inserts, premium sound system, etc.
All models should, however, be available with the latest MyLink interface with smaller or larger center screen. The model will also be available with safety aids like the forward collision warning, lane departure warning, etc.
2018 Chevy Colorado Diesel: Powertrain
The 2018 Chevy Colorado Diesel will be powered with the 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine with four cylinders. This engine debuted a year after model’s last redesigned in 2015. In its current form, it can produce 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. It should be available in all trims except the base one. For the current model year, this diesel engine comes paired with six-speed automatic but the new 8-speed auto transmission should be available with this engine as well. It could provide improved torque and fuel economy.
The current Colorado with the turbodiesel engine can tow up to 7, 700 pound and returns around 24 mpg combined. If it comes with the new 8-speed transmission we could see some improvements in the fuel economy.
2018 Chevy Colorado Diesel: Arrival, Price
Chevy revealed mentioned off-road capable ZR2 trim which comes this spring as the part of the 2017 model. The off-road oriented buyers, this version will cost from $40, 995. However, the 2018 Chevy Colorado Diesel should arrive in late 2017.
