If the latest reports from the car industry are true, one of Ram’s recent creations, the Ram Rebel TRX Concept might soon reach the production. The automaker used the 2016 State Fair of Texas to present this most powerful half-ton Ram ever which has the supercharged Hellcat engine under the hood combined also with the hardcore look and off-road hardware. If Ram’s plans are in line with the latest reports, the model which should steal some of Raptor’s sales could arrive by the end of this year and probably marketed as the 2018 Ram Rebel TRX.
2018 Ram Rebel TRX: Design
Despite being the concept model, the Ram Rebel TRX is a fully designed truck that can run and if the 2018 Ram Rebel TRX would be its production version, it won’t deviate far from the concept form. Aggressively styled with the cues that took inspiration from the 1500 Rebel version and heavy-duty Power Wagon, the Ram Rebel TRX will also get a serious off-road rig. The model will feature upgraded suspension system and increased suspension travel. The unique wheels will be wrapped in all-terrain tires while model will also have front and rear skid plates.
The front end will be defined with blacked-out grille with the design like on the 1500 Rebel version while more sculpted hood will also add to its appearance but will also open the space for the Hellcat engine.
Interior, Features:
Inside, the Rebel TRX should feature off-road inspired design and will get brand’s latest infotainment system. The unique upholstery with red stitching accents will be combined with all-weather floor mats, unique logos and comfortable seats.
To keep driver and passengers connected, FCA will install the latest Uconnect infotainment system with the 8.4-inch touchscreen. In front of the driver between the gauges, should also be the 7-inch display. The model should also install some safety enhancements and like the concept, it should come in the crew cab from only.
2018 Ram Rebel TRX: Powertrain
Under the sculpted hood of the 2018 Ram Rebel TRX will be supercharged and intercooled 6.2-liter Hellcat V-8 engine. The concept model had the version which can produce 575 hp and the production version could offer even more horsepower. In any case, if the production version comes with some form of this engine, it would be the most powerful half-ton pickup truck ever. FCA will combine this engine with the 8-speed automatic transmission like on all Hellcat versions.
On the other hand, the Rebel TRX will be built on the basis of the traditional Ram 1500 but will get upgraded suspension and other running gear. The model will be all-wheel drive model with standard Performance Control System and Borg Warner transfer case.
