2018 Toyota Tacoma: Changes, Powertrains, Price

Just like with every vehicle which comes from Toyota family, the main reputation characteristic of Toyota Tacoma is reliability. However, with the Tacoma at your disposal you can also count on go-anywhere ability, efficient and capable V-6 engine, on variety of configurations to chose from and good resale value. This mid-size truck is highly recommended for people who need strong off-road capability and with available off-road versions it is probably unrivaled in that aspect in this class. The same you could expect from the 2018 Toyota Tacoma but there should also be some other advantages.

What’s new?

With the arrival of 2018 Tacoma, this model enters into the second year after it was fully redesigned for 2016 model year. The comprehensive redesign has introduced new more efficient V-6 engine, beefed frame, reworked interior, more luxury features and upgraded tech features. 2018 Toyota Tacoma: Imposing Design

The exterior styling is slow evolving process in case of this model and the form of this truck hasn’t changed much through the time. Some changes with the third generation arrival were seen and 2018 Toyota Tacoma will also introduce some detailing.

However, its imposing front end design won’t be changed much. It will again feature high hood line protruding and hexagonal grille. Angled headlights will be slightly restyled and slightly reshaped bumper will sit bellow. The profile side will be defined with toned-down and more traditional pickup look than polarizing front fascia.  There will be swollen fenders and bulged sheet metal above door sills. The rear side will include sculpted tailgate, refreshed taillights and step-bumper.

Interior, Features

The interior of this model will feature design which is functional and comfortable and surfaces will be covered with durable materials. More attention on design themes and details will be in higher trims and off-road versions will also get special treatment.

The passengers will also benefit from comfortable front seats and there will also be upgraded infotainment system. The model will be available in Access Cab and Crew Cab versions and there will be two bed lengths as well. The shorter bed is 60.5 inches and longer 73.4 inches.

2018 Toyota Tacoma: Performance

On the performance front the 2018 Toyota Tacoma will rely on two engine options. The base will be a 2.7 liter four-cylinder engine which can produce around 160 hp and peak torque of 180 pound-feet. All models will be available with either rear- or all wheel drive. The transmission options for this engine will include manual and automatic units.

More efficient and powerful Atkinson cycle 3.5 liter V-6 will be better alternative. It will be capable to deliver around 280 hp and torque of 270 pound-feet and will be available with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
