There is a wave of new heavy-duty trucks, the 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty is one of those. Sometimes it seems that big pickups simply don’t get enough attention and recognition. Most of the market and media attention is revolving around the mid-size segment. Which is undoubtedly the most popular part of the market. Rightfully so, they are very versatile and fill many roles and can be used for everyday agenda and work. But this doesn’t mean that heavy-duty pickups should get neglected. They are as useful as mid-size, but they are more fitting for a workhorse role. And trust us when we say this, there are a lot of workhorses needed around the world.
So Ford decided it was about time that they updated their flagship pickup. The Super Duty series is one of the top-selling ones, especially when we are talking about the working segment of the industry. They offer versatility, they can be fitted with additional tools that make your job easier. They have amazing performance and output which adds a lot of buy appeal. But this time around, Ford also paid attention to the styling portion of the design. So let’s take a look at how the pickup looks.
Interior and Exterior Changes
The inside of the 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty is looking improved. The styling is overhauled and we can see those improvements right away. The seating has new cushioning which will improve the comfort of the cabin. This is especially important since this is a working pickup and someone will have to sit for 8 hours straight. Lumbar support is also given attention. There is still seating for 5 people or less, depending on the cab configuration chosen. There will be plenty of technology to help you on your working day. Infotainment is unchanged but the dashboard is fully digital. Hands-free driving is rumored but not yet confirmed.
The outside of the 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty is looking rugged. A set of 35-inch all-terrain tires will help with harsh terrain. There can be many helpful tools added to the cargo bed, even hooks and lifts. There is a special suspension that will enable heavy lifting without compromising the strength of the vehicle itself. The front fascia is made in classic Ford fashion. Shiny and bright it is, but also lightweight to improve the power-to-weight ratio. There are bumpers that are prominent and add to the aggressiveness of the pickup. Also, they can come in handy while working as accidents do happen, unfortunately.
2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty Specs, Diesel
The new 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty is all about performance. It is its main job and it is going to do it quite well. There will be several engines on offer, including a diesel version. Which makes a lot of people happy we are sure. Nothing compares to those diesel-guzzling monsters under the hood. Ford also made some changes in this lineup from the previous year. They improved some engines while some didn’t need an upgrade. There are a lot of pointers that scream electrification but it won’t happen this time around and we will continue to use traditional combustion engines. Namely, there will be three engines on offer. First up we have a powerful V8 of 6.8 liters.
There used to be a 6.2-liter version but Ford deemed it too weak, and we are thankful for it. There is also a 7.3-liter version of the engine which has some minor improvements besides the obvious power. The first engine has 385 horses and 430 pound-feet of torque which is quite enough for the big truck to move around. The stronger gas engine has 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque which make it a much better option. And last but not least, we have the much sought-after diesel engine. It is a 6.7-liter V8 Powerstroke diesel with 475 horsepower and 1050-pound feet of torque.
This means it is a beast on and off the road. And extra torque will definitely help in difficult terrain and getting out of muddy situations. So if you think that the diesel engine F-250 would be the best option for you, you wouldn’t be wrong.
Electric HD Trucks?
There are still rumors circulating around about the possible electrification. It sounds like Ford has no imminent plans to switch to green energy, at least for their heavy-duty pickups. It simply doesn’t make sense since not a lot of things offer power as can the diesel engine for example. But we have recently seen a lot of improvements in that regard and we could definitely see Ford utilizing that technology to make their workhorses leave zero carbon footprint. The new Hummer EV has it right, they utilize a battery pack to deliver unmatched performance, unmatched even by diesel.
So Ford could implement a new platform to accommodate all the electric powertrain parts. But it is no easy task to reimagine the whole pickup from scratch. It would take time, but a big battery pack of at least 300 kWh would do the trick. It would also make the F-250 a much more budget-friendly solution as we know how much fuel prices have skyrocketed. However, this is something we will have to wait on for a little bit more. Currently, the F-250 can tow around 40000 pounds and haul 8000, which is still commendable.
2024 Ford F-250 Price and release date
Expect to see the new 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty on the road later this year. Probably be towards the end of the year. Also, prices will be decided by the trim you choose. We have XL for $45000, XLT for $49000, Lariat for $62000, King Ranch for $77000, Platinum for $78000, and Limited for $97000. The competition is fierce and there are many good heavy-duty pickups on the market. We will have to wait and see when they battle it out.
