The buyers who need the towing and hauling capabilities of the heavy-duty truck but will spend more time off pavement on muddy and harsh roads also expect serious off-road skills. Ram’s trucks have many talents but when it comes to the off-road abilities, the Ram Power Wagon is brand’s heavy-weight, top off-roader. This model comes with the Hemi V-8 engine combined with a heavy-duty off-road hardware but still is compliant with the paved roads. The model also has the strong presence and unique look and interior.
The Power Wagon uses the Ram 2500 HD Crew Cab as the base and debuted at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. On the other hand, the light-duty Ram 1500 switched to the new chapter for the 2019 model year and brand is now shifting the course to the heavy-duty models which will arrive as the all-new models in a year or two. Having that in mind, we shouldn’t expect the 2019 Ram Power Wagon with big changes.
2019 Ram Power Wagon: Design
For the 2019 Ram Power Wagon, the look is secondary to the performance but the model is easy to recognize in the crowd of other Rams. A higher-riding stance, the Ram Rebel grille and Warm winch in the front bumper help to identify model’s personality and purpose. Bumpers with the powder-coat treatment, blacked-out dual projector headlights, black fender flares, unique grille and LED taillights also describe model’s appearance further.
There is also an aggressive 17-inch wheel design with all-terrain tires, standard rooftop running lights, some attractive graphics and skid plates.
Interior, Features:
The Power Wagon version comes in the Crew Cab form only and with the short bed version. So, it delivers great interior comfort and unique interior design.
The model will have “technical grain” seats by default and upgraded leather seats and more luxurious will be available optionally. Unique dark trim and contrasting patterns will also leave a strong impression. The Power Wagon will also include brand’s responsive Uconnect interface and gauge display.
2019 Ram Power Wagon: Performance
For the serious off-road adventures, the 2019 Ram Power Wagon will exploit some impressive off-road hardware and settings. The Power Wagon comes with the 2.0-inch lift for the total of 14.3 inches of ground clearance. It also boasts impressive front wheel articulation of up to 26 inches. Impressive are also approach and departure angles, 33.6 and 26.2 angles respectively. Add also to that the Bilstein shock absorbers, electronically controlled front and rear differentials, a manual transfer case, upgraded axles, skid plates, front anti-roll bar and 33-inch all terrain tires.
The engine under the hood will be Chrysler’s 6.4-liter V-8 Hemi. The number of ponies will be 450 and torque 429 lb-ft. The Power Wagon also employs a six-speed automatic gearbox. A manual BorgWarner two-speed transfer case routes the power either to the rear wheels or all four.
