2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak: News, Design, Specs, Price

Ford re-launched the Ranger pickup in the US for the 2019 season and buyers get the mid-size alternative in this market but in a limited number of trim and powertrain options initially. The brand clarified also recently that the Ranger Raptor won’t join until the next generation version.  And while the Blue Oval Brand waiting for the response on model’s return in the States, the Ford Ranger is already very successful in many other global markets.

The return of the Ranger to the US coincided with the mid-update of the global version and the high-performance Raptor debuted as well. However, outside the US, buyers have more options to choose from and the range-topping Ranger Wildtrak has become more appealing since the recent refresh. The model comes packed with innovative technologies and comfort and safety features. The Wildtrak is also good on-road performer but can also attack unbeaten paths. Ford offers also Raptor’s bi-turbo diesel engine with the Wildtrak trim and a new 10-speed automatic transmission is also in the mix. Buyers can also stay loyal to the strong and trusty 3.2L five-cylinder turbodiesel.

The next 2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak will continue to live on the recent upgrades and there won’t be major upgrades until the next generation version. Ford will likely make some changes in the equipment range and offer new color and wheel options.

2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak: Powertrains

The 2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak will go to the new model year with the same mechanics and capability.

Ford made some adjustments to model’s suspension setup for the recent refresh and thanks to that the model has more precise handling and steering response and reduced body roll. That hasn’t affected the towing capability and the Wildrtak remains in the class top with max towing of 3500 kg. The model can also carry about 1000 kg in the cargo bed.

As for power management, the truck will again offer two turbodiesel options. A 2.0-liter Raptor-sourced twin-turbo engine will be available and sequentially working turbos will provide high power and torque output. In the combination with the recently introduced 10-speed automatic transmission, this engine will produce 210 horsepower at 3750 rpm while the max torque of 500Nm kicks in at 1750-2000 rpm.

A reliable and proven 3.2-liter five-cylinder turbodiesel engine will return again providing decent performance and efficiency. With this engine under the hood, the driver can count on 197 hp and peak torque of 470 Nm at 1700-2500 rpm.

The Wildtrak will also feel confident beyond the paved roads thanks to the standard four-wheel drive, electronic traction control, electronic rear differential lock, hill descent control, etc.

2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak: Design

Ford won’t also change much on the Ranger’s styling until the arrival of the new generation model. The Ranger got refreshed styling elements for the recent mid-update and the 2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak will repeat the current form. Ford might add new body shades and wheel options.

The Wildtrak will define its identity with the unique Monument gray grille treatment, 18-inch alloy wheels, side steps, HID headlights, LED fog lights, unique sports bar, rear step bumper, Wildtrak graphics, etc.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cabin, the Wildtrak will come with the supportive, 8-way electric adjustment front seats with partial leather upholstery. The contrasting stitching on seats and other surfaces will add to impression as well as generous standard equipment.

The model will come equipped with leather treated steering wheel and gear leveler, dual-zone climate control, heated front and rear seats, strong sound system, etc. The modern Sync 3 infotainment system with 8-inch touchscreen and Apple Car Play and Android Auto support will also be the part of a deal.

The Wildtrak will also rely on the active safety systems and use Driver Impairment monitor, lane departure warning and lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, etc. It will also posses Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Auto High Beam, etc.

2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak: Release, Price

The 2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak will appear late in the year. The price shouldn’t change much. The starting point should again be around 61, 000 Australian Dollars when the 3.2L turbodiesel is under the hood.  If the 2.0-liter bi-turbo seems more appalling, it should be available from about $64, 000.
