2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition: Specs, Price

The Honda Ridgeline remains unique among other pickup trucks in the mid-size class thanks to its SUV-derived underpinning. With the SUV like unibody design and suspension, the Ridgeline provides unmatched ride quality compared to the body-on-frame rivals. The Ridgeline rides smoothly around the town and on highways while you feel more control through corners. However, there are consequences because of the SUV-like design and the Ridgeline can’t tow as much as the more rugged rivals or perform as well off-road.

The Ridgeline was all-new for the 2017 model year and hasn’t received significant upgrades since then. Honda hasn’t yet revealed what we will get from the 2020 version but the latest reports don’t promise much. Honda announced electrification of its entire light-truck range but there are no signs that hybrid powertrain will be on the menu for the next model year. The model could, however, get modest styling and interior upgrades combined with the upgraded infotainment system and with active safety equipment available in the lower grades. The next Ridgeline will likely remain the single engine-powered model. The nine-speed automatic transmission could appear with the next version as well.

The Ridgeline will again appear in the crew cab form only while there will be a long range of trim options to choose from. The 2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition will again be at the top of the range standing out with the unique styling and well-executed interior.  The model will also equip modern tech and safety equipment combined with the high-comfort features.

2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition: Design

The newest reports indicate that the next Ridgeline could benefit from the similar styling upgrades as the recently refreshed Honda Pilot although we haven’t seen the prototype version yet. If the model follows the same path as the mid-updated Pilot SUV, the Ridgeline would get the new LED headlights and revised grille style for the new model year. There should also be the refreshed taillights at the rear.

The 2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition will add to that with the unique styling treatment. The Black Edition is basally the RTL-E trim with the appearance package. The difference will make black-themed exterior style including dark-finish grille and bumpers combined with the unique 18-inch black-painted wheels. The black color will also dominate on the door handles, mirror caps, front skid plate, etc.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cabin, the Ridgeline should leave all things at the same place and in the same form but should gain an upgraded infotainment system. Honda should also expand the availability of active safety systems.

The Black Edition version will also have the cabin dominated by the black color combined with contrasting accents. The model will come with the black leather seating adorned with the red stitching. The model will also use black headliner and unique LED interior lighting.

The truck should benefit from the upgraded infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto features managed via the 8-inch touchscreen. The Black Edition version will also possess 10-way power adjustable driver seat, a sunroof, tri-zone climate control, heated steering wheel, premium sound system, cargo lights, HD and satellite radio and more.

There will also be a long list of advanced safety equipment. The truck will rely on adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, parking sensors, etc.

2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition: Powertrain

The power for the 2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition and other versions will again come from the 3.5-liter V-6 engine. The engine makes 280 hp and torque of 262 pound-feet in the combination with the six-speed automatic transmission. Honda might equip the next Ridgeline with the 9-speed automatic gearbox available in the Pilot SUV. This could provide even smoother shifting and some performance upgrades.

The Ridgeline Black Edition will be the all-wheel-drive truck and buyers will also be able to dial between Normal, Snow, Mud and Sand drive modes.

The truck will again tow up to 5, 000 pounds. The fuel economy should stay at 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.
