2021 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid: Report, Specs, Price

Honda’s class-exclusive, unibody design Ridgeline pickup truck received a rugged new look as part of the mid-cycle update backed up by the updated infotainment system. Mixed with the new more truckish look are new tougher looking 18-inch wheels. For the new model year, buyers can also get a stylish package from Honda Performance Development that adds various visual enhancements. The truck comes also with some in-cab changes and a new infotainment system is the most important. The truck returns with the familiar powertrain but some sources suggest that the 2021 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid version might also join the range later in the model year.

Honda promised to electrify its light-duty range a few years ago and the mid-size Ridgeline is also in line to get a more frugal powertrain. However, while the fast-selling, compact CR-V SUV received already the Accord-based hybrid powertrain, Honda revealed a thoroughly refreshed Ridgeline but said nothing about the hybrid version and when it could appear. Some sources claim it cloud join the range after the regular model hits the market around the mid-2021. The model should look nearly identical to the regular version and come powered by the brand’s two-motor hybrid system.

2021 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid: Design

As part of the mid-cycle update, Honda applied an unusually thorough sheet metal redesign to the 2021 Ridgeline. The model goes on sale with the reworked styling from the windshield forward. Honda focused to transform the model’s soft, SUV-like front-end to a bolder, more truck-like design.

The refreshed, mid-size Ridgeline comes with the sportier and more sculpted hood. The front section received also new more powerful headlights. The new grille version adds also to the model’s bolder appearance. The front bumper is also new with a prominent skid plate adding also to the model’s tough new look. Honda reshaped also the front fenders of the refreshed Ridgeline.

The rear gets also reshaped bumper with the new twin-exhaust setup. The model received also new tough-looking 18-inch wheels available in all trims.

New for the 2021 model year is also Honda Performance Development package. This package adds various styling enhancements improving Ridgeline’s new look further. The package adds a specific grille treatment mixed with the black fender flares and specific-style wheels.

If the 2021 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid appears as the reports claim, the model will also benefit from the same styling upgrades as the regular version with several unique inserts. The model would add unique wheels and specific trim inserts and badging.

Interior, Equipment:

Unlike the exterior, the in-cab design of the 2021 Ridgeline benefits from several subtle modifications. The most important upgrade is a new infotainment system with improved graphics, interface, and new volume knob. Specific trims get also new seat inserts, contrasting stitching, and new accents on the steering wheel and center console.

At the equipment level, the entry-level Ridgeline comes with cloth upholstery, an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The suite of active safety systems is also standard. The safety package includes adaptive cruise control, active lane control and automatic emergency braking.

The top trims add more premium features such as leather upholstery, 10-way power front seats and more.

If the 2021 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid appears, the model will share the same in-cab design as the regular versions except for several unique inserts and additional instrument cluster and infotainment features.

2021 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid: Performance

The refreshed 2021 Ridgeline returns with a standard 3.5-liter direct-injected VTEC V-6 engine. The engine is good of 280 hp and torque 262 lb-ft. The model uses a smooth 9-speed automatic transmission across the range.

The Ridgeline is available with front-wheel drive and torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. The all-wheel-drive Ridgeline can tow up to 5000 pounds.

At the efficiency level, the Ridgeline’s V-6 is the most efficient in the class both in the front- and all-wheel-drive configurations. The two-wheel-drive version promises 19 mpg city and 26 highways. The all-wheel-drive model should score 19/24 mpg city-highway.

If the 2021 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid arrives as the reports suggest, the model should employ the brand’s two-motor hybrid system similar to what is used in the Accord sedan and CR-V SUV. However, the Ridgeline should use a larger engine than the mentioned models mixed with the hybrid system. The hybrid unit would improve the model’s already best in the class economy further.

2021 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid: Release, Price
