2021 Jeep Gladiator: News, Equipment, Price

The recently introduced Jeep Gladiator is a unique offering in the growing mid-size class with much personality, turbodiesel power and great towing and off-road capability. The Wrangler Unlimited-based pickup truck gets also modern tech and safety rig and there are also bits of premium comfort features.

The all-new Gladiator reached the market in 2019 while the new Mojave version with a buffy suspension and upgraded drivetrain is available for the 2020 model year. The upcoming 2021 Jeep Gladiator isn’t expected to bring any significant upgrade. The reports indicate just some changes in the equipment availability and possibly several new additions such as fresh color and wheel options. Unfortunately, there is no evidence that a four-cylinder turbocharged engine sourced from the Wrangler SUV would join the powertrain range as well as a new electrified powertrain.

2021 Jeep Wrangler: Design

The first-generation Gladiator has an unmistakable Jeep’s identity shared with the iconic Wrangler SUV and two models are similar structurally as well. The Jeep Gladiator is, however, mounted on the 18 inches longer wheelbase and has a longer rear overhang to provide the room for the 5-foot cargo bed.

The front section of the model wears the brand’s signature seven-slot grille flanked by the circular headlights. The chunky bumpers and fenders define also the model’s personality as well as the exposed door hinges. Like the Wrangler SUV, the Gladiator comes with the removable door and top panels. The model can be had with the cloth or hardtop available in black and body-color shades.

The 2021 Jeep Gladiator version will continue to the new model year with the same, timeless appearance while the new color and wheel patterns could be at disposal.

Interior, Equipment:

The cabin of the next 2021 Jeep Gladiator will remain unchanged for the new model year while there will likely be several changes in the equipment availability.

The Gladiator has the same dash design as the Wrangler SUV with the upright orientation and well-organized controls. Considering its rugged nature, the Gladiator is reasonably quiet and comfortable inside. The seats are well-shaped and supportive and there is plenty of room in the back seat.

When it comes to available equipment, the Gladiator starts with steel wheels and all-season tires, cloth upholstery, manual locks, eight speakers, a 5-inch display, voice control and Bluetooth capability.

Above the base trim, it gets alloy wheels, power locks and tailgate, power and heated mirrors, etc. There are also options such as a 7-inch display, Android Auto and Apple Car Play integration, satellite radio, automatic climate control, etc. Buyers can also get active safety equipment such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and parking sensors.

The Gladiator offers also leather upholstery, a premium Alpine sound system, a three-component hardtop, a tonneau cover, a spray-in bedliner, an 8.4-inch touchscreen and more.

2021 Jeep Gladiator: Performance

At the performance level, the next 2021 Jeep Gladiator should again rely on the proven V-6 Pentastar petrol engine and torquier and more efficient turbodiesel unit.

A 3.5-liter V-6 engine goes in the mix with a six-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. It is good for 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

A 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 is paired with the 8-speed automatic transmission only. The output is 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque.

Every version owns the part-time four-wheel-drive capability mixed with high ground clearance, approach and departure angles.  The Rubicon and Mojave versions get more robust off-road hardware and reconfigured suspension for even greater off-road capability.

The Gladiator can tow up to 7, 650 pounds when properly equipped. The V-6 driven version manages up 19 mpg city and 23 highways with the manual transmission and base engine. When mixed with the automatic gearbox, the V-6 powered Gladiator should score 17 mph city and 22 highways.

2021 Jeep Gladiator: Release, Price

The on-sale date of the next 2021 Jeep Gladiator should be later this year. The price is still unknown but it should stay close to the current range. The base version should cost around $33, 500.  With most features equipped, the price will go to upper 40, 000s.

The Jeep Wrangler competes in the segment with the Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma, Honda Ridgeline and Nissan Frontier.
