The new spy shots of the upcoming 2022 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck reveal that the new model will undergo a significant refresh. This truck looks attractive, and the most noticeable change is a revised grille, new headlamp designs, and the repositioned Chevrolet Bow Tie emblem that is placed on the higher point.
Besides exterior changes, the latest Chevrolet Silverado will also host more quality materials and better technology. From what we heard, General Motors is planning to bring various updates to the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado models. Unfortunately, some changes will happen in the engine department, and engines like 4.3-liter V6 and the 5.3-liter V8 will no longer be available.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado Exterior Upgrades
The new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado was spotted recently testing wearing heavy camo. However, through it, we managed to see some refreshments that are happening. First of all, the 2022 model features a more attractive front fascia that includes a revised grille, headlamp designs, and the repositioned Chevrolet Bow Tie emblems placed on the higher point.
However, the Silverado can also sport lavish amounts of chrome depending on trim level. The Trail Boss version is our favorite option that looks more sporty. This model offers many black accents, including black-finished wheels, a door handle, and a lifted suspension.
Like the GMC Sierra, the new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado should get the same treatment inside. That means it will offer a spacious cabin with lots of improvements. Generally, the most exciting news is that it will receive a nearly identical console and center stack as we saw on the recently Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban models.
Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 system is standard, and it will come with much larger touch screen than before. On top of that, Silverado comes standard with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, plus a 6-speaker audio system, one USB port, and a 12-volt outlet.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado Powertrain Changes
According to the latest reports, some drastic changes will happen in the engine department. After so many years, the naturally aspirated 4.3-liter V6 and the 5.3-liter V8 engines will no longer be available. These powertrains are available with the base-trim and the WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss Silverado models.
For 2022, the base-trim 2022 Silverado 1500 will be available with a 2.7-liter turbo-four that produces 310 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. This engine uses an eight-speed automatic gearbox. However, you’ll still be able to opt for the proven 5.3-liter V8, along with the 3.0-liter turbodiesel. The 6.2-liter V8 mill should also be available and it will produce 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Release Date and Price
The new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado will reportedly arrive this year. Most likely that it will be available on sale at the end of the year. Besides some small exterior refreshments, the new model will host a more comfortable cabin with more soft touches.
Also, it will feature a much bigger infotainment system and more amenities. It should start at $29,895 for the base version, while the top-ranking High Country cost $58,395 before options. Fully loaded, this model can easily reach a price of $70,000.
