2024 Kia Mohave EV Pickup Truck Debuted, When Will the Production Start?

There is another addition to the mid-size category of pickups, it is the 2024 Kia Mohave EV Pickup Truck. We didn’t talk a lot about an upcoming pickup from Kia. There wasn’t a lot of official information but it looks like it will happen after all. A lot of rumors and hints point to this being a mid-size truck. Which is kind of perfect since this is the most populated category. It is also the most popular one which should bring Kia a lot of profit. That is if the truck is actually good.

The mid-size pickups are quite versatile, they can be used for everyday agendas. On top of that, you can haul and tow quite a lot considering they are powerful. The interior will probably be luxurious and stylish. Which is almost standard on today’s pickups. But it won’t be brand new, we suppose it will be borrowed from another vehicle under Kia’s flag. There are a few suspects, but more on that later. The exterior will also resemble some already existing Kia creations. The powertrain should be borrowed as well. It does sound like they scrapped something together, but it will be glorious. Let’s take a look at the new Mohave EV.

News From Kia

Currently, we have no official information about the upcoming powertrain options for the 2024 Kia Mohave EV Pickup Truck. Since it seems like Kia is putting pieces together to make something majestic, we can conclude the powertrain will be borrowed as well. Currently, there are two obvious paths for a Kia. The SUV approach would which would mean them borrowing a design from the Sportage most likely. The other one would mean ripping off a Hyundai design. The better option is not yet obvious, but we might guess the Sportage path might be more likely to happen. This pickup is supposed to be mid-size since it is the most profitable pickup category. The pickup has some fierce competition in that group. This includes Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Navara, and the Canyon from GMC.

Pickup Truck – Standard Powertrains

The powertrain in question would probably be a V6 with a 3.8-liter, it could produce around 290 horsepower. The architecture would be brand new and there will be a unibody design. Although this comes with its own drawbacks. The architecture and platform planned for the new Kia Pickup is the same one that Ridgeline is using. This worked just fine for them apparently, so no reason that Kia should skip on that successful design. Towing will suffer a bit with that platform but the ride will be more balanced in general. The towing would probably be somewhere between 6500 and 7000 pounds which are decent for a mid-size truck.

There will be an 8-speed automatic transmission paired with it. And both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive should be optional. There are plans for different trims that would improve the experience based on the environment you are driving in. So definitely an off-roading trim will happen. This also puts Kia against other manufacturers that cover a wide plethora of niches for pickups. Which is great and would give them a lot of market value. There are words about a smaller engine as well. A four-cylinder that is 2.5 liters in size and can produce 190 horsepower. The same engine is used in the Santa Cruz small pickup. But this option might prove lackluster if the Mohave is actually a mid-size one.

2024 Kia Mohave EV Pickup Truck Upgrade and Range

But we are thrilled that Kia announced several fully electric vehicles to come out soon. And all clues point to the Mohave being one of those EVs. There are fully electric pickups on the market and not a lot of them. So Mohave being like that from the get-go should prove excellent for Kia. A lot of market share to grab by putting a battery pack in it. This should mean at least a 150 kWh battery, perhaps even stronger. This should outmatch the current engine lineup by far and give it an amazing range as well. Fast charging and peer-to-peer charging is available, which means 10 minutes for extra 100 miles usually.

We suspect this 2024 Kia Mohave EV Pickup Truck will be fully electric as many hints are there. But the exact range is unavailable right now as there are no tests conducted. But we believe it will be in the vicinity of 400 miles on a single charge. Anything less than that should be unacceptable.

Styling and Interior

The KIA Mohave Pickup Truck’s interior will be sleek and contemporary in design in 2024. Most likely, they took the Sportage cabin and modified it. This is a great decision because the SUV boasts a beautiful and contemporary cockpit. The infotainment system will be in the middle of the instrument panel and the dashboard will most likely be fully digital which is a nice surprise. Improved lumbar support and a few additional cushions enhance the seating experience. Five people will be able to sit there comfortably. Other features include a sunroof, an expensive sound system, and lighting effects. as well as additional technological features. Both automatic braking and lane-changing alerts will be offered. A hands-free driving technology would also be nice, as they are pretty common these days.

The exact outlook of the 2024 Kia Mohave EV Pickup Truck is unknown. We suspect it will have some semblance to the Sportage since the exterior look of the SUV is amazing. Big 19-inch wheels should be available and they are hopefully lightweight to shave off some weight. The front fascia should be borrowed of an already existing vehicle as well. The design should be ergonomic and aerodynamic to improve handling and fuel economy or should we say range. If there are off-roading trims, we suspect there will be increased ride height.
