2020 Ford F-350: News, Updates, Options

2020 Ford F-350

After the series of the all-new, light-duty trucks landed in the showrooms early this year as the 2019 models, the things are now getting hotter in the heavy-duty segment. General Motors revealed recently the all-new Silverado HD while the near-twin GMC Sierra HD should also come in front of the public soon. Ram is also finalizing the Ram HD models for the debut in early 2019. But, the leading brand in the industry will also respond on the redesigned competitors with the refreshed Super Series.

Ford’s heavy-duty trucks have been testing for a while and several times were caught on the camera. Spotted in deferent configurations, including the one-ton 2020 Ford F-350, the new models should bring light visual upgrades while more changes should appear in the powertrain range.

Ford is still keeping all details about the refreshed Super Duty models in the dark but as the latest reports claim the mid-upgrade could bring some replacements in the engine range while the heavy-duty, 10-speed automatic transmission should also debut. The prototype versions seem also to hide some visual modifications and Ford will also update the tech features.

2020 Ram 2500: Redesign, News, Engines, Release

2020 Ram 2500

After the debut of the three all-new light-duty, trucks for the 2019 model year, the focus of the public is now switched toward the 2020 model year and the introduction of the redesigned heavy-duty models. Ram’s heavy-towing trucks are just a few months from the debut which should occur early next year and the prototypes are testing on the roads in multiple configurations and various trim versions.

The current Ram HD arrived in 2010 with the radically new styling and multiple cab and powertrain options. The fifth-generation Ram HD follows the redesign of the brand’s fast-selling Ram 1500 and the more capable versions should borrow heavily from the smaller sibling.

Among the spotted prototypes, the three-quarter-ton 2020 Ram 2500 was also in front of the camera and we can expect that the new-generation Ram HD will apply the similar design language and surely use the mixed-material strategy as the smaller workhorse. The interiors should also be very similar and loaded with the latest tech and safety equipment.  The truck will also get more efficient powertrains but more precise details will appear after the debut.

General Motors will introduce the new generation of its heavy-towing range and Ram will also follow with the all-new 2500 and 3500 models. But that won’t stay unanswered by the leading truck brand as the heavy-duty models with the Blue Oval Badge were spotted several times and in different configurations, while testing before the debut early next year.

Ford redesigned the Super Duty Series for the 2017 model year and the refreshed half-ton F-150 arrived as the 2018 version. Now Ford is working on the mid-update of the Super Duty models based on the latest reports and spy photos. Ford is, of course, quiet about the details and the testing models wearing tick camo covering all sections of the model.

Based on the latest reports, the 2020 Ford F-250 and other heavy-duty versions will bring styling and equipment upgrades. The powertrain range is also expected to get upgraded with the possibility of the inclusion of the new engine version for the fleet buyers. The new 10-speed automatic transmission should also appear as the part of the mid-update.

2020 Ram 3500 HD

FCA’s aging heavy-duty truck range is next for the full redesign after the all-new, half-ton Ram 1500 debuted early in the year as the 2019 model. The firm has already been spotted on several locations while testing the next generation of the heavy-towing trucks. As for the new Ram 3500, details are still scarce. Still, based on spy photos and latest reports we can draw some conclusions and the same is with the powertrain lineup.

2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD

There were several all-new trucks from the Bowtie brand in 2018 and more is yet to come. 2019 Ram Power Wagon: Specs, Running gear, Price

2019 Ram Power Wagon

The buyers who need the towing and hauling capabilities of the heavy-duty truck but will spend more time off pavement on muddy and harsh roads also expect serious off-road skills. Ram’s trucks have many talents but when it comes to the off-road abilities, the Ram Power Wagon is brand’s heavy-weight, top off-roader. This model comes with the Hemi V-8 engine combined with a heavy-duty off-road hardware but still is compliant with the paved roads. The model also has the strong presence and unique look and interior.

The Power Wagon uses the Ram 2500 HD Crew Cab as the base and debuted at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. On the other hand, the light-duty Ram 1500 switched to the new chapter for the 2019 model year and brand is now shifting the course to the heavy-duty models which will arrive as the all-new models in a year or two. Having that in mind, we shouldn’t expect the 2019 Ram Power Wagon with big changes.

2019 Ram 3500: Specs, Design, Price

2019 Ram 3500

We saw more conservative-styled, lighter, bigger, more efficient and smarter Ram 1500 which debuted at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. However, buyers needing greater towing and hauling capabilities are turned toward more capable, heavy-duty Rams and also expecting the redesign of these models soon. Unfortunately, the 2019 Ram 3500 and smaller 2500 won’t bring the redesign to the game and we have to wait until 2020 model year to see reworked heavy-duty Rams. Ram is already testing new-generation heavy-sizers and prototype was spotted covered in the thick camo. Obviously, the model is in the early stage of the development and we don’t expect redesigned versions until 2020.

In the meantime, we will get the upcoming Ram 3500 with some changes in equipment range and possibly new package versions. The 2018 Ram 3500 brought a Limited Tungsten Edition version,  sport appearance package, upgraded infotainment features, etc. The 2019 version will largely be carryover.

2019 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 HD: Specs and Design

2019 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 HD

The GMC Sierra HD trucks are comfortable, quiet and capable heavy-duty models available in many configuration options. For the 2017 model year, the heavy-duty haulers received the upgraded V-8 turbodiesel engine combined with the more efficient cooling system including the hood-mounted air intake. For the 2018 version, GMC introduced the standard rereview camera and a 7-inch touchscreen as well as the new grille for the Denali trim. As for the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 HD, we should again expect some changes in the equipment organization and package options. For the more notable changes, we will have to wait a year or two as the HD models will get the full redesign in a year or two after the launch of the redesigned, light-duty Sierra 1500.

The Sierra 1500 will break the covers soon and the redesigned heavy-duty versions will benefit from the similar upgrades when they arrive. The light-duty truck will be heavily updated rather than we will see the full redesign but will introduce upgrades on all fronts. The same strategy GM will apply to the HD series.
