The 2015 Ford F-150 and its redesign was a revolution in the pickup truck industry. Two model years after, Ford has done the same with the Super Duty truck lineup. These models are new from the ground up and ready to tow and haul larger loads, to provide better driving experience and also to ensure safer loading and more fun ride thanks to the new technologies. Ford F-250 is the first in brand’s Super Duty lineup and this ¾-ton full-size version comes in wide range of configurations. The top-of-the-range Platinum model is only available in the crew cab configuration. This cab version includes full-size rear doors and provides expanded rear seat comfort. This version comes with both bed lengths, 8- and 6.75-foot. The engine selection includes V-8 Flex-Fuel and Power Stroke Diesel V-8. There are also unique exterior and interior design as well as top-notch tech and safety features.

The 2017 Ford F-250 Platinum, like other versions, sits on the fully boxed chassis which for the 2017 version features beefier frame rails and crossmembers. These components are made from high-strength steel which improves their stiffness as Ford claims by 24 times compared to the previous generation. Ford also uses aluminum for body panels and cargo box which is more dent-resistant and lighter than conventional materials. Thanks to the usage of modern materials, new Super duty trucks are capable of hauling heavier loads and it is also lighter up to 350 pounds.

Styling specifics:

On the other hand, the exterior design of the Platinum model has the same form as other versions but includes some unique trim inserts. The two-bar style grille features chrome satin finish. Standard on this version are LED quad beam headlights as well as fog lamps. Furthermore, the model includes body-colored front and rear bumpers. Door handles are also body-colored but with chrome pull handles. The model also features standard LED taillights, 20-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, tailgate power lock and tailgate step, remote tailgate release, tow hooks, etc. As options, it can get power deployable cab steps, spray-in bed liner, skid plates, bed mat, power moonroof, etc.

The base engine on the 2017 Ford F-250 Platinum is a 6.2-liter SOHC Flex-Fuel V-8. This engine can generate 385 hp and torque of 430 lb-ft.

As an alternative for this engine, Ford offers a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbo diesel. This engine is the class leader in the horsepower and torque ratings.  It can provide 440 hp and impressive torque of 925 lb-ft.

Both engines work in conjunction with the TorqShift heavy-duty six-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on this model and as the option comes all-wheel drive.

This model also features standard adaptive steering system. This system adapts steering ratio depending on the vehicle speed. It reacts on higher speeds with more controlled and firmer steering while at lower speeds the steering ratio is higher which increases its response and needs fewer inputs.
